SOMEONE IS PRAYING FOR YOU

GREETINGS! For the past couple of weeks, the Lord has been sharing with me some insights concerning the importance of prayer. I passed these on to my friends and decided they might be helpful to you also. Following are some of the truths He has shown me regarding the impact of prayer in the life of the believer.

Prayer is supremely important in the heavenly realm-so important that it is the primary activity of Jesus in heaven, and of the Holy Spirit on earth. In fact, the Bible indicates the only activity Jesus is presently engaged in is prayer. Hebrews 7:24-25 states, "But Jesus, because He lives forever, has an unchangeable priesthood. Therefore He is also able to save to the uttermost (completely and forever) those who come to God through Him, since He always lives to make intercession for them. The word "intercession" means "to plead in prayer on behalf of another." These scriptures are amazing! Read them again. Look at what they reveal about the connection between your eternal security and the prayers of Jesus. These verses tell you that Jesus is always talking to His Father about you! His whole focus is to make sure you make it into heaven! His prayers keep you from falling away! Here are some of the things the Bible says He prays for you: He prays that during adversity, your faith will remain steadfast (Luke 22:32); He prays that adversity will make you able to minister to others (Luke 22:32); He prays that when you sin, you will be free from condemnation (1 John 2:1; 1:6; Romans 8:33-34); He prays that you will have victory over the attacks of the devil (Romans 8:35-38). Wow! The impact of Jesus' prayers for you is monumental! Not you, or any other believer, would survive this life or make it into heaven without them.

But there is more good news! Not only does Jesus pray for you, but the Holy Spirit does also. Romans 8:26-27 says, "In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groans that words cannot express. And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints in accordance with God's will." Incredible words! The Holy Spirit is also talking to the Father about you. God's Spirit, who is your teacher, guide, comforter and helper, is also your prayer partner! One of our great weaknesses is prayer. We don't pray as often as we ought to, and when we do pray, we often lack insight into how to pray. How comforting to know that God sent His Spirit to come along side of you when you pray. It is the presence of the Spirit that draws you to prayer (Galatians 4:6). It is the Spirit that takes your petitions and expands them according to the purposes God has for your life (Romans 8:27; Ephesians 3:20). It is the Spirit that prays the will of God into your life (Romans 8:27). It is the Spirit that releases the power of God into the circumstances and lives of those for whom you pray (Jude 20; Ephesians 3:20; 6:10, 18). What an encouragement to pray about everything and everyone God has put in your life!

Two amazing gifts have been given to you, one in heaven and one on earth-the gift of a Savior in heaven who faithfully prays for your spiritual well-being, and the gift of God's Spirit on earth who fills your prayers with the power of God. Overwhelming, isn't it!

Rejoicing with you,

Becky Jones
